John Carpenter's Halloween may have introduced us to the Boogeyman, but Halloween II cemented Michael Myers as legend. Picking up immediately after the chilling final moments of the original, director Rick Rosenthal, working from a screenplay by John Carpenter and Debra Hill, traps audiences inside the darkened corridors of Haddonfield Memorial Hospital as the seemingly unstoppable Shape continues his relentless pursuit of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis). With Donald Pleasence returning as the obsessive Dr. Loomis, the night that never ends becomes bloodier, more suspenseful, and even more terrifying.

Featuring some of the series' most unforgettable kills, Dean Cundey's atmospheric cinematography, and another haunting score from Carpenter and Alan Howarth, Halloween II expanded the mythology of Michael Myers while helping establish many of the slasher conventions that dominated horror throughout the 1980s. For many fans, it's the perfect companion to the original.
